We recently bought our first home with the fantastic help of Kathryn Stein and Helen Walker from Thornwall in Berkeley. They are both mothers and can cope with the things that kids do while looking for a house. They were always so nice to the kids (and us), and know how to help when the kids are distracting you or too tired, etc. When we finally found a house and were serious about getting it, the little one was feeling it was very unfair that the older one would get a larger room. Helen took her seriously, paced the length of each room with her, showed her all the good reasons why her room was nice for her, and how it really wasn't that much different in size. Whatever I had to say at that point would not have worked, but Helen saved the day and made her so happy with the room.
